A 10-year-old, pregnant girl has shocked court attendants at Ikeja Chief magistrates court on Tuesday, 12 December when she confessed that her father is responsible for her pregnancy.
According to News Agency of Nigeria reports, Abuya, a resident of Idimu Road, Egbeda, Lagos, is standing trial on a count of defilement.
Prosecutor, Mr. Simeon Imhonwa, said the accused regularly had sexual intercourse with the minor at his residence.

“The accused forcefully had carnal knowledge of his child on November 29 at his residence and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the crime,’’ Imhonwa noted.
Imhonwa added that the accused had been defiling the girl before he was apprehended.
The police noted that the Victims mother made the report of her daughter‘s ordeal which later led to the arrest of the suspect.
The offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, according to the prosecutor.
However, the accused, pleaded not guilty.
Presiding over the case, Chief Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi granted Kenneth Abuya bail in the sum of N500,000 ordering him to likewise to produce two sureties in like sum.
She further stressed that the sureties must own a property in Lagos and should possess an evidence of tax payment to the state government.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case until February 2, 2018 for further mention saying, she needed advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.
