After an engaging electoral period which included a run off for both, former World Best player and flagbearer for the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), George Weah and his closest rival, the flagbearer of the ruling Unity Party (UP), Joseph Boakai, the crown eventually fell on Weah, making him the president elect of Liberia.
