Teaching is a noble profession that requires responsible people to be involved. A teacher must be loyal and make sure that students are comfortable in the classroom.
Averagely, students spend more time in school than they spend at home so, the teachers must be a good example and role model to them.
Here are 13 things teachers must never do
1. Dress shabbily or provocatively to school
As a teacher, you must not dress indecently to school because you are an important figure in the lives of your students and they are watching you. You must dress smartly, neatly and decently without revealing sensitive parts of the body.
2. Being absent from school without proper permission
A teacher must always be punctual. If there will be any cause to be absent from school, proper permission should be taken from appropriate authorities.
3. Use drugs, tobacco or alcohol in school
It is wrong for any teacher to use drugs, smoke tobacco or drink alcohol within his/her school premises where good morals are meant to be instilled in the lives of students.
4. Arrive school late or leave school during work hours
Teachers should not arrive the school late or leave during lectures without appropriate communication and permission from the appropriate authority.
5. Go to class unprepared
It will be wrong for teachers to go to class unprepared. You are meant to impart knowledge. How will that be possible if you are not prepared to deliver lectures? You must always be prepared to deliver to your students.

6. Turn learners to errand boys or girls
It will be an abuse of power if you turn your students into errand boys and girls especially when they are supposed to be in the classroom learning.
7. Inflict physical injuries in the guise of discipline
Discipline is good; it makes a child better. However, once discipline turns to inflicting any form of injury on a student, that is an abuse and is not acceptable.
8. Use unbecoming language (abuse and curses) on learners and colleagues
You must never curse or abuse your students and colleagues. Don’t use abusive words in all its form for any student.
9. Date or harass any learner sexually
You are a teacher that must be a role model to your students and not their lover. Never get sexually or romantically involved with any student and don’t harass them.
10. Recommend or administer drugs to learners
You are not a Medical Doctor but a teacher. Please don’t prescribe drugs for your students. If they are down with any illness, inform the school authority or their parents or let them go to the school’s sickbay if there is any.
11. Solicit, pester or coerce learners or parents for financial or material inducement
You must be content with your salary. Never solicit for money from parents or students
12. Using school hours for personal businesses
School hours are meant to be used for teaching the student and doing other school activities. Don’t use it for doing personal businesses
13. Sitting down to teach and playing favouritism
You command the attention of your students better when you stand to teach them. Don’t sit down to teach and don’t play favouritism among students. Even if you like one more than the other, don’t show it. This can affect the esteem of others.
