A 13-year-old boy has been arrested over a series of sexual assaults on women in east London.
Police appealed for information after nine women were assaulted in the Poplar area over a five-week period.
Officers said a male suspect had been seen riding a bicycle before “approaching lone women and touching them over their clothing” in the evening.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “A 13-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday after attending an east London police station. He has since been bailed to a date in late November pending further enquiries.
“The arrest follows an appeal for information after nine women were sexually assaulted over a five-week period in the E14 area, particularly around Blackwall Way.
“The attacks, which involved sexual touching, took place between Thursday, 6 September and Thursday, 11 October and were all between the hours of 6.30pm and 8.40pm.
“Extra patrols continue in the area to reassure the public. Officers urge anyone, especially women who are walking alone, to remain vigilant and be aware of their surroundings.”
