“The Summary Of My Life Is The Grace Of God” – Reedemer University’s VC
The Vice Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Ogun, Professor Debo Adeyewa celebrated his 60th birthday amidst glamour and glitz. The event was attended by who is who in the academic world.
Professor Adeyewa, the current Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University is a professor of meteorology. Born on 22nd February 1957, and a native of Inisa, Osun State, Nigeria, he obtained his first and second degrees in Physics/Meteorology at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria between 1981 and 1989. His PhD programme sponsored by the International Program in the Physical Sciences, Uppsala University, Sweden, was between 1990 and 1997 in collaboration between the Uppsala University, Sweden and the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.
The event was held at the Redeemers’ University school chapel. The opening prayer was taken by Pastor Okafor a friend to the celebrant.
The event was Compered by the Schools’s Chaplain, Pastor Olugbenga Akosile who introduced the guests, among the guests were Pastor Steve Omotoye, Professor Ade Ajayi, Pastor Bisi Adewale, Pastor & Pastor Mrs Bayo Oladosu., Proffessor S.I Oladeji etc.
During the testimony by the people who in one way or the other have had an encounter with the Celebrant, Pastor Bisi Adewale a renowned Marriage counselor based in Lagos spoke about the life of the Celebrant.
Adewale said he is a very humble man and he also talked about Adeyewa’s support for their ministry especially his kind gesture by releasing his house to be used for their family film.
A professor who is formerly Adeyewa’s lecturer said he is a diligent person and he is very proud of him.
The celebrant’s son by the name Ireoluwa read a poem prepared by his elder brother Demilade who was unavoidably absent.
Bishop Mike Bamidele of the Victory Life Ministries International, Ilesa, Osun state gave a short sermon at the event and he also talked about the exemplary lifestyle of the celebrant.
Bamidele described the celebrant as a humble man and a man that cares for his family. He took his text from Psalm 103: 1-5. He said birthday celebrations are opportunity to pause, look back and thank God. He also said it is a time to pause, look ahead and have faith for what the future holds.
Appreciating the people that have come to felicitate with him, Adeyewa said the summary of his life is the grace of God.
“There was a time I had to drop out of school for 7 years because my parents could not pay my school fees but after the whole thing, grace restored me. Today, I can say the summary of my life is the grace of God” he said
In conclusion, Adeyewa asked the people to join him in shouting halleluyah and said to them that what they do for God and their commitment towards people is what will last forever.
