18-year-old Boy kills housewife with a pestle in Kano State
Abdulsamad Suleiman, an 18-year-old suspect in the brutal murder of a housewife, has been apprehended by the Kano State Police Command.
SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, March 23. He claimed the suspect smashed the 21-year-old woman to death with a pestle and stole her cellphones.
“On the 12/02/2022 at about 2030hrs, a report was received from a resident of Danbare Quarters, Kumbotso LGA Kano State that, when he returned from work to his house on the same date at about 2000hrs, he found his wife, Rukayya Jamilu, ‘f’, 21 years old in a pool of her blood motionless on her bed, and also his children.
“Upon receiving the complaint, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi, Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Ibrahim Hamma, Divisional Police Officer, Dorayi Babba Division, to proceed to the scene.”
“The crew took the victims to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, where the housewife was evaluated and confirmed dead by a medical doctor, while the two other casualties were hospitalised.”
“Investigations by the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department and the DSS resulted in the arrest of the principal suspect, Abdulsamad Suleiman,’m’, 18 years old, of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Gwale LGA Kano State, and his accomplice, Mu’azzam Lawan,’m’, 17 years old, of the same location.”
“Following a thorough investigation, the main suspect confessed that on February 12, 2022, at approximately 1600 hours, he went to the deceased’s residence as a relative and met her on the bed.
“After greeting her, he noticed three (3) cellphones and grabbed them. When he discovered she knew him, he took a wooden pestle and violently struck her on the head, as well as her two children, before fleeing with her cellphones.
“He also admitted that he delivered one of the mobile phones to a buddy and sold the other two for N12, 000.” (N12,000:00). His friend was apprehended and confessed to selling the deceased’s phone for two thousand naira (N2,000:00). Following the conclusion of the investigation, the case will be charged in court.”
CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, warns that criminals will have no place to hide in Kano State. It is suggested that they either repent or leave the state entirely. They will be arrested and face the full force of the law if they do not comply.
As part of the ongoing “Operation Puff Adder,” he stated, the Command will maintain strict patrols, raids on criminal hideouts, and black spots around the state.
