2 men arrested for reportedly defiling 11-months baby and 3 other children in Anambra

Anambra Police Command officers have arrested two men suspected of defiling an 11-month-old infant and three other juveniles in the state’s Umudim Nnewi-North Local Government Area.

The arrest was confirmed in a press statement issued by DSP Ikenga Tochi, the police spokesman, on Monday, March 21.

The statement runs as follows:

“Following the conclusion of the investigation of four children rescued by police operatives on a reported incidence of defilement in Umudimi, Nnewi, the Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, has advised parents/guardians to be careful who they entrust the custody of their children/wards.

The Command Operatives jumped into action and arrested the two accused culprits, Peter Ezeala, 61, of Mbano, Imo State, and Mr Elochukwu Igwilo, 27, of Ekwusigo LGA, Anambra State.”

The victims’ mother, a trader, had always left the children in the care of the suspects while she was gone at work, according to the investigation. Unfortunately, the suspects took advantage of the situation to exploit the children.

While the case was deferred, the suspects were detained in a Correctional Services Centre.
