#2019Elections: Buhari would Defeat any political Party at the Polls, Presidency Boasts
The presidency has downplayed the possibility of wrestling power away from the APC by any alliance between political parties in the run-up to the 2019 elections.
The presidency specifically noted the alliance between former president Olusegun Obasanjo and leaders of Afenifere, pan- Yoruba socio-political organization, saying that noting good can come out of such a union.
Obasanjo who visited the Afenifere leader Chief Reuben Fasoranti, earlier this week, at his residence in Akure, Ondo State, emphasized on the need for a strong coalition and cooperation to ouster the current ruling party.
The former president urged Afenifere to ensure that they play vital roles in Nigeria’s rebirth, through the 2019 general election.
Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity in a chat with newsmen challenged both Obasanjo and Afenifere to come out to the field with their voters and challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polls. According to the presidential aide, the government of President Muhammadu Buhari would beat any political party flawlessly at the pools.
“I don’t see anything coming out of the alliance. The two of them which party do they represent? If they have voters card, let’s meet at the polling station” Shehu said.
