35-year-old arraigned in court for car theft

A 35-year-old man Fatai Olalekan was on Monday brought before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly stolen of premium Motor spirit (PMS) popularly called “Petrol”.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Caleb Leranmo told the court that the accused committed the offence on August 28 at Bank road in Ado-Ekiti.

Inspector Leranmo further explained that the accused unlawfully stole 8.7littres of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) which valued at N1.2M belonging to one Gilbert Igweka Global Concept Nigeria Limited.

He said the offence contravenes Section 390(6) of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Tunde Falade pleaded with the court to grant bail to his client in liberal terms, with a promise not to jump bail.

In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Aderopo Adegboye granted bail to the accused person in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He added that one of the sureties must be a civil servant.therefore adjourned the case to 0ctober 16 for further hearing.

Therefore, he adjourned the case to October 16 for further hearing.
