A man identified as Tunde Bankole, 38 has been remanded in a prison in Lagos after he was paraded and charged to court for allegedly raping his neighbour’s wife.
The incident which was said to have happened at True Crescent in Oko-Oba area of Agege, Lagos, after the man had a quarrel with his victim’s husband and later decided to hit back at him and then allegedly raped his 36-year-old wife.
Tunde was said to have stormed his neighbour’s house, and allegedly threatened his victim with two knives commanding her to remove her cloth so as to allow him easy access to rape her.
Under duress, the victim allegedly granted him his request and she was raped on her matrimonial bed after-which Tunde allegedly parted with her matrimonial ring also.
After he was arrested, Tunde, however, agreed to have had sex with her but said it was done with her consent. When asked at the police station what he was doing with the knives with which he reportedly threatened his victim, he was unable to give any tangible explanation.
After being charged to court, the Presiding Magistrate at Ogba Magistrates court, Mr T.O. Shomade granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in the like sums, stating that he will remain in prison custody until his bail condition is perfected. The case was further adjourned until 17 August 2017 for further hearing.
