Four secondary school students of Government Science and Technical College, Karniya in Yankwashe Local Government Area of Jigawa State have been arrested over theft of 18 sets of mini laptop computers worth N1.4 million.
Spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command (NSCDC), DSC Adamu Shehu, confirmed this last weekend.
The suspects named: Shehu Abdulrazak, Abdullahi Suleman, Sani Abdulraham and Yakubu Abdullahi were between the age range of 15 and 17.
The gang suspects are final year secondary school students of Government Science and Technical College, in Jigawa state. They stole 18 sets of Samsung mini laptops after they broke into their school computer room premises
The laptop each valued at N75,000 were supplied to the school by the Federal government of Nigeria to aid computer learning of the student and staffs of the school.
The students confessed to having already sold 12 out of the laptops, each at the cost of N10, 000 at the Farm Centre with a mobile phone they stole at a market in Kano.
They were reportedly arrested when they came back to steal the remaining six of the laptops from the computer room in the school premises.
“The Total value of the 18 sets of the laptops put together is N1, 350, 000,” (NSCDC) Jigawa State Command DSC Shehu disclosed.
