Mrs Ogundipe’s baby came a week earlier than the expected delivery date which was why she had to deliver the baby while mid-air and about two hours from emergency landing.
According to Daily Mail, the baby was delivered with the help of a 27-year-old Urologist, Dr Sij Hemal who responded to the call for medical help while on the same flight with the pregnant woman.
Dr Sij Hemal had to make use of the Air France flight’s medical supplies to monitor vitals and contractions to safely deliver the baby boy after the mother pushed for about 30 minutes.
Dr Hemal also made use of a shoestring to tie and cut the umbilical cord for the baby who was named Jake after delivery.

Speaking to Daily Mail Online, Dr Hemal expressed his excitement that everything went well. He said: “I just tried to think ahead to what might go wrong and come up with a creative solution.”
He, however, mentioned that his fear was that the mother could die from bleeding or shock after birth.
Dr Hemal, who was on the flight coming back from a vacation in New Dehli, India to New York and then his base to Cleveland is the urologist at Cleveland Clinic’s Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute.
