A 45-year-old Vietnamese woman identified as Nguyen Thi Sam has broken a national record by giving birth to her 14th and 15th child. A Vietnam health official revealed this on Tuesday.
“I have never seen women have so many children in decades,” Doctor Nguyen Ba Thuy, a former deputy minister of healthcare, told dpa.
According to report gathered, Nguyen Thi Sam had been pregnant for 32 weeks, and then was delivered of twins weighing 1.5 and 1.6 kg at Tu Du Maternity Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, the online newspaper Vietnam Net reported.
The Vietnamese law For a long time has encouraged a two-child limit for families, though the law has been made compulsory only for members of the ruling Communist Party.
Doctors had performed a caesarean section on her to deliver the babies when she came visiting Ho Chi Minh City, although she is originally from Nghe An.
She said excitedly in a report gathered from Vietnam Net.
“In spite of the unexpected incident, my two girls were born safely and I am very much thankful that the doctors helped me successfully,”
Prior to her latest delivery, Nguyen Thi Sam had a total of seven girls and six boys
Two of her eldest children are both married while a third is studying in the U.S.
Doctor Nguyen Ba Thuy said that Nguyen Thi Sam broke Vietnam’s previous record of 14 children, which was set in Hanoi in 2013.
