Some people might argue that genetics determines how our body will age, but when you don’t take care of your body and insist that your family genetics will take care of it, you might be disappointed in the long run.

1. Sleep deprivation
Sleeping is one of the most essential activities carried out by every living thing, and it’s important can never be overemphasized! According to experts, an adult needs 7 to 9 hours of sleep for good health, but so many people deprive themselves of this needed amount of sleep, and apart from the adverse effects it can cause on our health, sleep deprivation can make one age faster!
However, if depriving yourself from sleep is not intentional and you’re suffering from sleep disorders like ‘Insomnia’ or ‘Narcolepsy’, then you should visit a doctor or professional in the field.
2. Avoiding fruits and vegetables
So many people are not fans of vegetables or even fruits, but if you want to have a glowing and ageless skin, then you need to start considering taking fruits and vegetables.
We often get hungry at odd times of the day and opt for junks or snacks which are bad for our health because of their high calories. So, it’s advisable to replace those junk foods with fruits and vegetables which are high in healthy nutrients. This will not only make your skin look young and beautiful, but will also help your general digestive system.
3. Lack of exercise
Before you roll your eyes at this, you should know that I’m not talking about extensive and strenuous workouts, but simple exercises that will help in maintaining physical fitness and overall health.
Simple exercises like, jogging, running, stretching, rope skipping and even walking will go a long way in helping you look fit, healthy and ageless!
4. Excessive drinking and smoking
As the popular saying goes, “Too much of everything is bad”, which is exactly why too much drinking and smoking is bad for your health and should be avoided!
Alcohol consumption will not only increase the levels of ‘triglycerides’ – fat/lipid found in the body, but will also allow wrinkles and lines to appear on your body at an early age. Alcohol also depletes or reduces vitamin A, which is essential for keeping the body strong and youthful.
On the other hand, the side effect of smoking is something most of us are familiar with. One of the major reasons why smoking cause ageing is because it increases inflammation in the body which causes damage to the elastin protein of this skin, thus causing wrinkles and sagging of the skin. If you can quit drinking and smoking entirely, it’ll positively affect your general body health.
5. Accumulating stress and holding grudges
Stress is one of the most emotionally disorienting factors that so many people go through. However, most people accumulate stress even when it could have been avoided!
Although people’s mindset and perspective on things differ, and there are so many activities that can cause stress. It’s advisable to learn how to avoid or manage stress because it can cause several physical, emotional and psychological damage which will ultimately lead to rapid ageing.
Just like accumulating stress, holding grudges can also make one age faster because it’s also a stress factor that affects one mentally and emotionally, thereby weakening one’s body tissues and bringing about rapid wrinkles and sagging of the body. If you want to have a young and ageless body, it’s important to let go of things, drink water and stay happy!
