5 medical tests every woman should do
Most women have busy schedules – kids, husband, work, and other commitments and tend to put their health aside. Some women assume that as long as they feel physically healthy, there is nothing to worry about. They continue their chores every day. Unfortunately, feeling good does not always mean that you are healthy.

Here are five important medical tests you should do:

1. Mammography

Although mammograms are offered for women over the age of 40, there are special circumstances in which women in their 20’s and 30’s are having the examination done. I have done a few, and I am in my 30’s. If you feel a lump in your breast, see a developing rash on one or both breasts, feel pain in the breasts, or there is discharge of blood from the nipple, go to your doctor immediately. Do not wait.

2. Papanicolau
Taking an annual Pap smear can help your doctor detect signs of cervical and ovarian cancer. In addition, the test can detect signs of the sexually transmitted disease called HPV (human papillomavirus), which can lead to cervical cancer.

3. Cholesterol
It is important to check your cholesterol levels. An excessive amount of cholesterol in your blood can develop plaque, which will compress the fluidity in your bloodstream. With high cholesterol, you are at risk for heart disease.

4. Blood pressure
High blood pressure is known as the silent killer. If you suffer from this condition and do not treat it, you are putting your life at risk of sudden heart disease or cardiac arrest. Stress, excessive sodium intake, smoking and alcohol may contribute to high blood pressure.

5. Eye examination
In addition to visiting your ophthalmologist for eyeglasses and / or contact lenses, you should consider asking for more detailed eye and vision tests. During this time, this expert will test the health of your eyes and detect if you are suffering from eye diseases such as glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Do not delay with any of this test as you can save yourself and your family today.
