Go Outside and Play!
Depending on where you live, it’s not often that we get the chance to play in the snow with our kids. Take advantage of a snow day and tap into your inner child to have some carefree fun with your little ones. Sledding, snowman building, and snowball fights are all classic snow day activities for a reason. Playing outside on a snow day will also give both you and your kids the chance to get some physical activity in.
Get Crafty Together
Snowed in? Bust out the paint supplies and get to crafting with your kiddos. Using creativity is both beneficial to you and your children. Research shows that being creative helps to increase positive emotions and improve our immune system. Get to Baking
After you’ve spent the morning playing in the snow and channelling your inner Van Gogh, you most likely built up an appetite. What better way to enjoy a snow day than by baking some delicious treats with your children? Oftentimes, we don’t have the time we would like to bake. Fortunately for us, snow days give us more time to spend on the “fun” things in life. Not to mention, the smell of fresh baked cookies throughout the house makes the snow day even more cozy.
Play Some Games
We usually don’t have the time to play games with our kids each night. We get it! That’s why you should take the opportunity to play with your kids when you’re all snowed in together. Since you have the time, you could consider having each child pick a game to play. You should be able to get through all of them. You’re sure to have some wonderful, quality time with your family sitting around a board game.
Movie Night
Everyone loves a movie night, and a snow day provides the perfect opportunity for one. The fresh snow falling outside the window, fire blazing, and your favorite movie playing on the TV – it doesn’t get much better than that. Your children will appreciate getting to wind down with you for the evening. Pop some popcorn, grab a few of those cookies you baked earlier, and ease into the evening with a family movie night.
Read Together
After your fun snow day, it’s time to call it a night. Grab one of your child’s favorite chapter books and get cozied up with them. Reading together will help you all to get in the mood for a good night’s rest after a busy day of fun and play.
