It is no longer news that the Academic Staff Union of Universities is on strike. This industrial action has actually lingered for a longer period of time than the students thought it will be.

It will be a wise thing for students to engage in productive activities so as to gain something at the time the strike ends.

Here are 5 things to do during ASUU strike

  1. Get a teaching job

The new academic session for primary and secondary schools has just commenced, and some schools are looking for teachers. It will be in your own interest to apply for a teaching job pending the time ASUU will call the strike off. By doing this, you will help yourself to grow and also prevent your brain from redundancy.

  1. Learn a craft

There are many vocational skills that can be acquired only if you are willing to learn. You can learn bead making, cake baking, pastries, makeup, but to mention a few. You would eventually become a pro and also establish an additional source of income for yourself.

  1. Engage in reading

Reading is another way to keep yourself busy this period. It will help you to be alert and you never can tell, you can birth your own book through it.

  1. Do home lessons

This is another good way to keep yourself busy, look around your neighbourhood and let parents know you can teach their children in the comfort of their home.

  1. Apply for freelance marketing

There are companies looking for marketers for their products. This will be your opportunity to work at your leisure and still earn an income before the strike is called off.
