8 reasons why you should not bathe in hot water
It’s 5 in the morning, you feel that cold chill all over your skin, you know you have to get out of bed and get a bath but you don’t also want to take the blanket from your body.
The thought of bathing with hot water seems legit, it wasn’t going to be an option either. You feel it’s either hot water or no bathing.
But before you make that choice, let’s take a look at 8 reasons why you should not bathe in hot water.
The skin is made up of cells called Keratin, and this keratin is used to build up parts of your body like hair, finger and toenails. Hot water damages the keratin cells located in the outer layer of your skin called the Epidermis.
By doing this it disrupts the ability of the skin to hold in moisture since these cells help hold in moisture thereby leading to dryness.
2. Negative effects on fertility:
Some research work presented by scientists’ shows that taking a hot bath for more than 30 minutes can affect a person’s ability to procreate or reproduce.
So, doctors make sure to advise people with fertility issues to have cold water baths. Soaking yourself in a tub of hot water is certainly not advisable.
3. It makes one can inactive/ lazy:
Having a hot water bath in the mornings can give you a poor start to your day, making you feel so relaxed that you might even want to take a nap as soon as you come out of the bathroom.
Hot water baths do not heighten your senses in order to give you an advantage during the day, it makes you lethargic.
4. Hot water baths can lead to itching sensations all over the body.
Scientific studies show that the heat can cause mast cells (which contain histamine) to release their contents in the skin and cause itching.
5. Increase in body temperature:
Hot water baths can lead to an increase in your blood pressure, too. For people with cases of high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease, taking a shower that’s too hot can worsen those conditions.
6. Quick ageing:
This would sound the scariest of the lot, if there’s anything humans want, it’s the ability to maintain our youth down to our old age. So how about avoiding a situation that speeds up ageing; that’s avoiding hot water baths. Hot water baths can make your skin look wrinkled and haggard way too early.
You don’t want to look older than you actually are, do you?
7. Hair loss:
Pouring that hot steaming water on your head might feel relaxing but you’re just gradually causing damage to the roots of your hair resulting in excessive hair loss.
8. Some people have made it an addiction:
Bathing in hot water can become an addiction and your body might demand hot water even during summer.
That’s the least kind of situation you want to be addicted to.
