Man And His Motorcycle swept off by flood

A man who has been identified as a commercial motorcyclist has been found, on Tuesday morning, after he was swept away by the flood along with his motorbike, late on Monday evening.

The man who was said to be an ‘okada’ (motorcyclist) man was said to have dared the fast-flowing flood, which had resulted from a heavy downpour, but lost direction and control in the Elemi Channel at Ayewa garage area of Adebayo in Ekiti state.

Witnesses at the scene of the accident claimed that the victim had ignored the entreaties by motorists and other commercial motorcyclists, who had earlier failed in their attempt to cross the channel and had decided to wait for the water to recede.

It was also gathered that the ‘okada’ man had two passengers on board his motorcycle, but that the passengers had chosen not to go with him as he was said to have insisted on his knowledge of the way and how best to wade through the turbulent water.

According to report as gathered from Tribune, the onlookers were helpless when he lost control, and that they had watched helplessly from afar as he was overwhelmed by the flood.

Sources said his body was said to have been found on Tuesday at the Ayewa garage area of Adebayo, and it was later taken to the mortuary.
