Suicidal Uber Driver Charged To Court
Uber driver, Mr Hammed Olojo who was rescued from jumping into the Lagoon by operatives attached to the Lagos State Police Command has been brought before an Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos state
Mr Olojo was charged for attempted suicide but pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sergeant Kehinde Olatunde, had told the court that Mr Olojo committed the offence at about noon on August 27, 2017, on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.
Olatunde said that the accused was rescued while attempting to jump into the lagoon and was quickly restrained.
He told the court that the offence contravened Section 235 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
In his ruling, Magistrate, Mr. Fowowe-Erusiafe advised the accused that suicide was not the way out and that he should look at the brighter side of life.
The magistrate admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The case was however adjourned until November 16, 2017.
