The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has released an official statement denying that it rusticated a final year student of the institution for four semesters for allegedly dancing with the statue of the late Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Sofoluwe.
You will recall that a female student who was said to be a law student in the school was captured in a video dancing with the statue of the late UNILAG Vice-Chancellor’s statue.
It was claimed that the video was captured about two months ago but only became public knowledge a few days ago over the alleged incidence of rustication. The matter has so far gathered for itself, mixed reactions from social media users.

The University’s spokesman, Toyin Adebule who spoke about the development on Monday said emphatically that such an allegation was “false and should be disregarded”.

Adebule noted that while the university encourages good conduct among its students, there was no iota of truth in social media rumours that the lady who appeared in the video was rusticated for four semesters as alleged.
