At 92, Peru’s oldest soccer coach plans to continue coaching Lima’s youth for the foreseeable future.
A 92-year-old woman in Lima Peru has not yet given up her goal of turning young kids into soccer stars, as a matter of fact, she hasn’t let age deter her from carrying out this beautiful purpose of hers.
Maria Angelica Ramos has been in the business of coaching and training talents for 42 years. More than 40 of those years have been spent in the Lima sporting complex where she has produced and coached around 1000 football stars. With her style of mentoring and emphasis on discipline, some of the players now see her as a second mother.
One of the young boys actually attested to this, in his own words ‘’She is like a mother to us, everything she tells us is for our own good’’.
When Madam Maria Angelica was contacted she had this to say, ‘’ I live all alone, I don’t have a family, neither do I have kids, these children you see here are my kids, they are my family.
Asked for how long she intends to continue, she answered ‘’ as long as I can, as long as God keeps strengthening me, I will continue’’, even though it looks like I will die soon she laughed.
