The illicit affair began right here in my house, and she became pregnant for him. A woman describes losing her husband to her younger sister.
Agnes Maina, a woman from Kenya, has spoken out about how her younger sister stole her husband from her.
The mother of three revealed to Yvonne Kawira of TUKO.co.ke that she lived in squalor as a child and was never able to afford a good education.
She remembers how, when she was younger, a stranger she met on the street became her friend, became her partner for several months, and then stopped communicating with her.
Agness began selling fruits by the roadside to save money for her child’s clothes when she gave birth because she had no one else to look up to.
“He was pretending to be on the same page with me, but he left me when I needed him the most.
“When I was due, I gave birth on the floor of my grandmother’s house,” she recalled.
When her child was only a few weeks old, Agnes claimed that her struggle to provide for her child drove her back to the street to sell fruits.
“That is how I met a man who took a keen interest in me. He would make sure he bought a piece from me.
He would tell me that he did it for my child, and I trusted him. He then suggested that we move in together because he wanted to marry me, and I agreed.”
Agnes claims that her husband was initially fine but soon after demanded that she have a child of her own if she wanted to stay in his home. She consented and became pregnant.
But as soon as she became pregnant, he began to act differently toward her older child. She persisted despite his obvious favouritism.
“When I got pregnant with my youngest, I requested my younger sister come and help me take care of my kids.
She agreed, but what I did not know was that my husband would take an interest in her. “Shortly after, my sister got pregnant too and moved out.
Agnes went to see her sister after she gave birth, not realizing it was her husband’s child. When Agnes heard her sister’s infant crying, she made the choice to tend to the child.
Agnes was startled to discover her husband in boxers on her bed when she entered her sister’s bedroom.
“I was so shocked, I fell. When I regained consciousness, I found him gone. I asked my sister, and she told me that the affair started right in my house.
“I returned to my house only to find that my husband had packed and left with everything except for our clothes,” she narrated.
Agnes is currently staying with a well-wisher while she finds a way to care for her kids on her own.
“I have no one to turn to,” she added.
