The Police Command in Osun on Monday has arrested a 25-year-old Joseph Mark, an undergraduate of Adekunle Ajasin University in Ondo for allegedly beheading his mother.
Speaking to newsmen in Osogbo, Osun state capital city, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command, DSP Folashade Odoro, told newsmen that the incident happened at about 6:30 am, at No 25, Zone 5, Ajetomobi Street, Eko-Ende Road, Ikirun, Osun.
The police PRO Odoro noted that the father of the suspect, Mr Adewale Mark, made a report of the incident at the Ikirun Divisional Police station.

In the father’s explanation, Odoro noted that he said he left his house at about 5:30 a.m. to visit his friend at the next street only to return at 6 a.m and discovered that his son had cut off his wife’s head with a cutlass.
On visiting the crime scene, Odoro noted that the police have taken possession of exhibits; such as weapon used photograph of the crime scene and medical examination of the suspect.
The victim, Mrs Christianah Mark until her death was aged 62-years-old.
Odoro also said that her corpse has been collected and been deposited at mortuary adding that, further investigation on the matter had begun.
According to Police PRO, the culprit who has already been arrested is suspected to be insane.
