The management of Babcock University in a statement signed by the Vice President for Student Development, Olaniyi Arije, has introduced sweeping new guidelines on students’ grooming and dressing ahead of forthcoming examinations.

Thhe university officially cancelled all hair-pass permits previously in circulation, describing them as 'illegal and invalid' emphasizing that current hair-pass tags do not grant any student the right to maintain unapproved hairstyles on campus, and declaring that 'the use, circulation or recognition of hair-pass in any form is now completely outlawed with immediate effect.'
The updated regulations, set to take full effect from the start of the second semester in January, target specific hairstyles deemed unacceptable as male students are now barred from keeping voluminous or unkempt hair, beards, and dreadlocks, while female students are prohibited from wearing extreme, indecent, or inconsistent hairstyles.
Students currently holding any hair-pass or exemption have been directed to stop using them immediately, with the university warning that any student found presenting or relying on such documents 'will be investigated and disciplined accordingly.'

Babcock University also outlined an extensive list of prohibited outfits, including body-hugging clothes, sleeveless blouses or dresses, sagging trousers, as well as baggy, boot-cut, or over-length trousers. Also scarves tied to corporate or official academic wear are restricted at certain times, while items such as bubu, danshiki, joggers, sportswear, and walk-out wear are banned during stipulated periods.
