A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of a couple, Lamidi Salau, 67, and Lamidi Aina, 65, over their alleged involvement in the killing of a 25-year-old housewife, Kehinde Omize.
The case was adjourned until October 9, 2026, for mention, after the Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted an application to remand the defendants at the Correctional Facility in Ado-Ekiti.
The pleas of the defendants were not taken, though they were represented in court.
Kehinde was reportedly hacked to death by her husband, a meat seller identified as Sadiq Ibrahim, during a domestic dispute in the Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti.
The suspect, popularly known as Alfa Eleran, who is currently at large, allegedly attacked his wife with a machete during a heated argument while family friends were attempting to resolve their marital issue.
The two defendants were remanded over allegations of conspiracy to murder and murder.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that there was probable cause to order the remand of the two defendants and the deceased's husband, who remains at large, over their alleged involvement in the offences of conspiracy and murder of Kehinde Omize.
ASP Oriyomi said the offences are punishable under Sections 244 and 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti 2021, respectively, and were allegedly committed within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District on September 9, 2026.
