What started as a whirlwind romance in 2015 — Afrobeats superstar Davido and businesswoman Sophia Momodu welcoming baby Imade Adeleke — has devolved into a painful public saga.

Public spats over child support and access have flared, but the real storm hit in 2025 when Davido filed for joint custody at Lagos State High Court, seeking more involvement in Imade's life.
Sophia countered with a 102-page affidavit, per court documents reported by Premium Times, emphasizing her role and questioning Davido's consistency.
Davido, grieving the 2022 drowning of his son Ifeanyi with wife Chioma, pushed for shared parenting to bond with his firstborn.
Sophia, protective and steadfast, highlighted alleged lapses, including financial disputes.
In a February 2026 hearing, Sophia's lawyer Ebelechukwu Enedah referenced Ifeanyi's death to argue potential risks.
Devastated, Davido withdrew the suit, posting, "I never asked for full custody... I have decided to drop the case."
He blasted the lawyer online, prompting Punuka Attorneys to accuse him of fueling harassment and warn against intimidation, urging Nigerian Bar Association intervention.
Enter Dele Momodu, Sophia's uncle and Ovation Magazine publisher, offering a glimmer of hope.
From Liberia, mourning a friend's loss, he shared on Instagram; 'Here in Liberia, @davido is treated as the god of music. I've been visiting here for over two decades but this visit is different.
'I came to commiserate with my friend and Sister, former Vice President H.E DR JEWEL HOWARD-TAYLOR on the passing of her only child, CHARLES PHILIP NEILSON TAYLOR JR.
'Since landing here, I have been inundated with messages from fans of David, and ladies who love @thesophiamomodu to bits... One of them is this "fashion designer " @lorine.doe who said I should step in and settle the "quarrels." My dear Sister, thanks so much.
'Nothing to worry about. Everything is going to be alright ... We are working behind the scenes. Pls, keep everyone in your prayers...'
