A former Louisiana mayor, Misty Roberts, has been convicted of felony sex crimes involving her teenage son's 16 year old best friend during an alcohol fueled pool party at her home according to reports from KPLC.
The jury deliberated for less than an hour before finding Misty Roberts guilty on charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile both felonies.
Roberts, 43, the former mayor of DeRidder, a small town of about 9800 people resigned days before her arrest in 2024 following the July incident at her residence.
The victim testified that he was drunk when the encounter occurred during the booze filled birthday celebration for Roberts teenage son, where alcohol was provided to minors, including her own children.
Shocking courtroom revelations included testimony from Roberts' son, who told investigators he witnessed his mother engaging in sexual acts with his friend through a crack in the window during a recorded 2025 interview played for jurors.
Her daughter also testified seeing Roberts and the 16-year-old on top of each other while Roberts best friend and former sister in law Jill Weaver overheard the son screaming that his mom effed his best friend as she tried to mediate the family chaos.
Text messages presented in court showed the victim's mother contacting Roberts about pregnancy concerns to which Roberts replied she was on birth control while friends urged her to take the morning after pill.
A local DoorDash driver testified delivering emergency Plan B contraception to Roberts home shortly after the alleged incident. further linking events to the night of the party.
The disgraced official now faces up to 10 years for carnal knowledge and up to seven years for indecent behavior plus mandatory registration as a Tier 1 sex offender with sentencing set for April 17 2026.
