* A caring resident tries to save his neighbor from despair.
* Good intentions lead to an unthinkable confrontation.
* Small fishing village mourns a gentle soul while police investigate.
In the close knit fishing village of Takinta in Ghana's Western Region, everyone is still reeling from a heartbreaking loss. Cosmos Ndah, a respected member of the community, lost his life while simply trying to help a neighbor in deep pain. When Nya Meah shared with others that he felt overwhelmed and wanted to end his own life, Cosmos did what many would hope a friend would do. He went straight to Meah's home to talk, to listen, and to offer comfort.

A resident shared what happened next: “So Meah went to his room and threatened that he was going to kill himself.” Cosmos, hearing this, immediately stepped in to calm things down. Eyewitnesses say the conversation turned tense, and in a sudden, devastating moment, Meah used a machete, taking Cosmos's life. “But in the process, a confrontation ensued and the situation turned bloody when Meah used a cutlass to butcher Cosmos to death,” one shaken eyewitness recalled.
The police moved quickly, arresting Meah and beginning a careful investigation.
