The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome killing of a housewife and her six children in the Dorayi Chiranchi area of Kano Municipal Local Government Area.
The arrests were carried out following a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and were executed through an intelligence-driven operation coordinated by the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori.

Confirming the development in a statement issued on Sunday, the police spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, disclosed that the suspects have been identified as Umar Auwalu (23), Isyaku Yakubu, popularly known as Chebe (40), and Yakubu Abdulaziz, also known as Wawo (21).
According to Kiyawa, the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated sting operation conducted between 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and 4:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Umar Auwalu, who is a nephew of the deceased woman, allegedly masterminded the attack. He reportedly confessed to leading the group in carrying out the killings.
The police further disclosed that Auwalu admitted the gang had been involved in other violent crimes, including the murder and burning of two housewives in the Tudun Yola area of Kano.
Items recovered from the suspects include blood-stained clothing, two mobile phones belonging to the victims, a cutlass, a club locally known as gora, some cash, and other dangerous weapons.
The Kano State Police Command praised its officers for the swift and effective operation and expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation. The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice for the victims and maintaining peace and security in the state as investigations continue.
