A woman rescued from kidnapping in Kogi State, Nigeria, has safely given birth to twin girls at the state's Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Lokoja.

The Kogi State Government confirmed the delivery on Monday, 2 March 2026. For security reasons, the mother's identity has been withheld.
The IDP camp serves as a temporary rehabilitation centre for victims of kidnapping and other violence, providing shelter and support before reintegration with families.
Commissioner for Information and Communications Kingsley Fanwo announced the news, noting the mother's stable condition and that of her newborns. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo promptly directed the State Security Adviser and Commissioner for Health to transfer the mother and twins to Kogi State Specialist Hospital for full medical care and postnatal support.
The government emphasised the increasing number of rescued victims arriving at the camp due to intensified security operations against criminal elements. It reiterated its commitment to their welfare and rehabilitation, while praising operatives for their ongoing efforts.
This birth offers a heartfelt moment of light for a woman who endured unimaginable trauma, symbolising resilience in the face of insecurity.
