Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe says he has met women who do not want children, and that not every woman shares the same expectations about motherhood.

“I feel like now, there are women who don’t want to even have children. I’ve met at least two or three,” he said.
Speaking during a recent interview, Arukwe also reflected on the pressure people face to marry by a certain age. He recalled how society often questions those who reach 25 without getting married.
“Growing up, you’re 25, you’re not married. What’s happening? At this age, I already have five children,” he said.
The actor explained why he has never been a strong advocate of marriage. He believes women bear more of its responsibilities, particularly when it comes to childbirth and family expectations.
He noted that women go through several changes and sacrifices in marriage, including bearing children and taking their husbands’ surnames.
“I’ve never really been an advocate of marriage, because I feel like it’s more tasking for the woman. She’s the one that bears the child. She takes your last name. A lot of things happen,” he said.
