• 37-year-old described in fundraiser as 'pure sunshine, pure love' as family grapples with sudden loss
A donation campaign launched for the family of Renee Nicole Good, the 37-year-old woman fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis on January 7, has raised more than $550,000 in under 24 hours.
The fundraiser, created to support Good’s wife and young son, paints a loving portrait of the victim, calling her 'pure sunshine, pure love” while noting that relatives are left to 'grapple with the devastating loss of their wife and mother.' What began with a modest goal of $50,000 has exploded as thousands rally behind the grieving family.
The shooting occurred after ICE agents approached Good’s SUV in traffic on a residential street and ordered her to exit the vehicle. According to witnesses and multiple videos reviewed by Minnesota officials, Good reversed briefly before moving forward again, at which point the agent fired several rounds at close range. She was struck in the head and pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after. Her mother confirmed her identity to local media.
