Nigerian mother-of-two based abroad, Chinonso Onuoha has opened up about domestic violence, infidelity, emotional and psychological abuse, laying bare years of pain including a specific violent episode triggered by her ex husband's side chick in a series of Facebook posts on Friday February 27.
She detailed the ordeal in a post titled
HOW I WAS BEATEN FOR ASKING MY EX HUSBAND TO TELL HIS SIDE CHICK TO STOP CALLING ME. The events unfolded on a Sunday afternoon in a small town in Spain shortly after the family relocated there.
Her son was very sick and she could barely speak Spanish and with her ex-husband not home she called him to accompany them to the health center but he refused.
It sounded like he was answering from a toilet.
She translated the symptoms herself went alone to see the doctor and got medication prescribed.
Because it was Sunday all pharmacies were closed except one and this was before Google Maps. She called him again for directions but he told her to call a friend or take a taxi. She asked strangers and found the pharmacy herself.
Then the side chick called.
'I picked up and she immediately went off on me saying my ex husband loved her more. She said he would leave me for her. She called me a frustrated woman.
It was the fourth time she had called to harass me.'
Shocked Chinonso told her, 'I didnt care about what they were doing. If he wanted her he should stay with her. I told her not to call me again.'
Furious she demanded her ex husband come home immediately. When he arrived she told him his side chick had, '...just called me and that she must have gotten my number from his phone because only three or four people had my number.'
I asked him to tell her not to call me again.
'He called her in front of me acting dramatic and all performative but I knew it was fake.'
She said, 'Whatever that was I do not care. Just make sure this never happens again.
'That was when he exploded. He beat me. He swore. He insulted me. He hit his hand on the ground saying Truth to God if I do not marry this woman let me die. I asked him why he didnt marry her After all they were living together before he came home and married me. He beat me so badly that day.
'And something changed in me. From that day on even if I caught him on top of another woman I did not say a word,' Chinonso Onuoha wrote.
