In a statement on Sunday, Femi Babafemi, NDLEA's Director of Media and Advocacy, revealed the ingenuity behind the concealment.
'Strapped to her abdomen was a pink coloured calabash ingeniously crafted to simulate a baby bump and conceal 3200 capsules of tramadol. The opioids were intended for sale in Cotonou before further distribution.'
The arrest occurred last Monday February 16 2026 at the departure tarmac as Rabi Muhammad attempted to cross into Cotonou Benin Republic.
NDLEA officers grew suspicious of her conspicuously protruding belly during routine checks prompting a full body search that exposed the deception.
The fake pregnancy consisted of a pink calabash strapped tightly to her abdomen mimicking an authentic baby bump.
Inside the improvised device, agents discovered the 3200 capsules of Tramadol tightly packed ready for illicit sale across the border.
Muhammad from Kano State now faces serious charges for drug trafficking.
Sources close to the investigation describe her as part of growing networks resorting to extreme measures amid heightened border scrutiny.
