Mrs Agoi collapsed during the assault, with foam coming out of her mouth and was later confirmed dead.

A source said the deceased was on the phone with her husband during the altercation when the suspect allegedly stormed her house and struck her with the bench.

"I learnt that the quarrel started because Alhaji accused the woman of throwing the nylon into his compound. The wind had blown it there but he insisted it belonged to her. She was calling her husband on the phone when he angrily entered the compound and hit her with a bench." the source told Ondo State Government owned publication Hope Newspaper.

The victim's husband, who works as a driver to the Olori of the Olowo of Owo, fainted in shock upon returning home and learning about the tragic incident.

He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Owo for medical attention while the body has been deposited in a mortuary.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi confirmed the suspect is currently in police custody with investigations ongoing.
