Raheem Okoya, the 22 year old son of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, has addressed public assumptions about his lifestyle, insisting that he is not simply living off his father’s wealth.

Speaking in an interview with BBC News Yoruba, the young Executive Director of Eleganza Industries said he earns a salary from his role in the company.
Raheem explained that his leadership role did not happen overnight. According to him, he spent the last decade preparing for the position by closely observing and learning from his father.
“I’ve been learning this position my whole life. From when I was in school, I’ve been shadowing my dad. It’s not an overnight thing. It’s been 10 years in the making,” he shared.
He also revealed that his father, who built the Eleganza brand from the ground up, made a conscious effort to teach his children the importance of discipline and hard work.
“My dad wasn’t born rich. He tries to instill those values in his kids. He wants his kids to also be able to work and build a fortune rather than just spend and destroy,” Raheem said.
Despite his preparation, the young executive admitted that his age sometimes works against him. He said being in a high level position at 22 comes with scrutiny and doubt.
“It’s definitely challenging. It’s a heavy responsibility. People already look at you. You’re young. They already want to doubt you. You always have to prove that you know what you’re talking about,” he added.
