A 36 year old woman, faces arson charges after allegedly torching her boyfriend's home during a domestic dispute in Ndwedwe KwaZulu Natal, South Africa on Friday March 6 2026.
Reaction Unit South Africa, (RUSA), responded at 14:43 following reports of a female setting the house on fire.
Witnesses saw her enter, with a blue carrier bag, then leave with it empty moments before smoke poured from the property.
Community members confronted and allegedly assaulted her as the blaze grew.
In statements to officers, she said she had recurring issues with her boyfriend but offered no further details.
She claimed she visited for a wellness check believing he might harm himself found him absent and left.
The homeowner arrived later, confirmed she was his girlfriend and said he had dropped her at her Canelands residence earlier unaware she returned to his home.
She was handed over to Ndwedwe SAPS for investigation while damage assessments continue.
