Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, once turned down the romantic interest of a Nigerian billionaire's daughter, sports journalist, Oma Akatugba, has revealed.
Akatugba made the claim in a post on X, saying the incident occurred during a visit to Okoye's home in the Netherlands while the goalkeeper was playing for Dutch club, Sparta Rotterdam. He said Okoye showed him a message from the woman on his phone.
"I screamed, 'Bro, this one na big fish o!'" Akatugba wrote, adding that he urged Okoye to pursue the relationship given the woman's background.
Okoye, however, declined, laughed off the suggestion, saying the woman did not meet his standards in terms of physical appearance.
“Yeah, but she’s not really in my league beauty-wise.”
The identity of the billionaire's daughter was not disclosed.
Okoye, 25, has been in a relationship with Dutch model Jelicia Westhoff, with whom he has a son, Isaiah Emil Okoye.
