In the dead of night, a neighbor rushed to the home after hearing the commotion.
They found Gogo Annah lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds to her upper body, including a deadly strike to her heart.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba confirmed the arrest of the boyfriend, noting the stabbing followed a brief fight and that a knife believed to be the weapon was recovered.
Daily Sun reported the family's anguish, with daughter Beatrice revealing the pattern of abuse.
"Gogo Annah reported the suspect to the police six times before her death but nothing was done to protect her."
The tragedy exposes the deadly risks in unequal relationships where age gaps and power imbalances fuel violence, often dismissed until it's too late.
Gogo Annah, a beloved elder who nurtured her community, sought safety repeatedly but died in the place meant for love. Her family trembles at the thought of her killer walking free.
