Two people have died and four others were hospitalized following an apparent mass shooting at an indoor ice rink in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on Monday afternoon, February 16.

The incident took place during a boys’ hockey game between two local schools, according to officials cited by WPRI News. Police confirmed that the suspect is deceased.
Eyewitnesses reported that the shots came from behind the stands, and one of the victims also lost their life, local sports reporter Branden Mello said.
A local father is being hailed as a hero after reportedly grabbing a gun from the shooter, though authorities noted the shooter had a second weapon during the attack.
Four people were taken to the hospital for treatment, and law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
