A Kano State woman, Hafsatu Yusuf, who recently made headlines for giving birth to rare quintuplets, has tragically died from complications shortly after delivery, PUNCH reports.
Officials from the Kano State Ministry of Health confirmed that the mother passed away at about 2 a.m on Thursday at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where she had delivered the five babies, three boys and two girls.
According to the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, Hafsatu experienced severe postpartum bleeding that doctors were unable to control, despite sustained efforts to stabilise her condition.

The quintuplets, born just days earlier, are reported to be in stable condition and continue to receive intensive care at the hospital.
Hafsatu’s body was later buried according to Islamic rites in her Hotoro residence, authorities said.
The health ministry is appealing to the public to support the newborns with milk and essential supplies as they continue treatment.
