A 51 year old Hamidu Damisa has been sentenced to prison by a Federal High sitting in Gombe for the crime of selling a one year old boy named Destiny in northern Nigeria.

The convict, a resident of Putuki Pargale in Balanga Local Government Area, was found guilty on a two count charge after a full trial.
Prosecuting counsel Musa Yila Kopyo laid out the charges clearly to the court.
“The first count is contrary to Section 13(1) and (2) of the Child Trafficking Law, 2015.”
He added that the second count alleged that Damisa attempted to sell the same child, an offence “contrary to Section 29 of the Child Trafficking Law, as amended in 2015, and punishable under Section 21 of the same law.”
Justice H.I.O. Oshomah, presiding over the case on Thursday, delivered the verdict after weighing all evidence, including testimony from two prosecution witnesses, one of whom was the convict’s own wife.
The judge declared Damisa guilty and sentenced him in accordance with the provisions of the Child Trafficking Law,
