Athlete Farah wins 5th world championship gold

Record breaking Mo Farah on Friday won his fifth world championship gold medal in the 10,000 meters at the World Athletics championship in London.

Victory in the world championship 10,000 metres brought him an incredible 5th successive global gold medal.

The athlete, Farah in a fascinating race from the start, pushed all the way to finish in 26 minutes 49seconds — the fastest of all his golden runs.

Uganda’s Cheptegei came second and left Kenyan’s Tanui in third position.

The world and Olympic champions had won gold in the 10,000 meters in 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and now 2017.

The 5th global gold medal holder, Farah described the race as the best performance of his career.

Expressing his joy, he said: “Yeah, it was my greatest performance ever. And one of the toughest races of my life. The guys gave it to me – it was about, ‘How do we beat Mo?’

“You had the Kenyans, you had the Ethiopians, you had the Ugandans, everybody worked as a team against me. But fair play to them. They worked their hardest and they chucked everything at me.

“I just had to stay strong, believe in myself and think, I didn’t work for nothing. I’m losing in my home town. I can’t, I can’t, I can’t.”
