Apex Community Helth Officer, Mrs Lateefat spoke to dailyfamily.ng about how awareness is the solution to the ignorance of some mothers.

The health official revealed this when she was asked by our reporter about the challenges they have faced since the beginning of the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health week.
She said: “Most of the challenges we have faced is that some mothers have not been cooperating, a large number of them cooperated but some still believe in the old taboos, for example, some believe that immunization is to infect their children with monkeypox disease.”
Apex CHO Lateefat added: “The Government has been doing its best and as health workers, we are also doing our best to reach the grassroots, I mean the community.”
She spoke about the solution to the ignorance of these mothers, she said: “Awareness, campaign is the solution to the ignorance of mothers. That is why health workers are going out to enlighten them about nutrition, keeping the environment clean. Educating the community at large especially mothers will help.”
