Bereaved families protests as Mortuary workers go on strike
The strike action of Mortuary workers all across mortuaries in Gauteng, South Africa has also caused bereaved families to protest the ongoing strike action by workers.
The strike action has put the release of postmortem results and burials on hold has caused great distress for bereaved families even after they loosed their lives ones
A spokesperson for Democratic Alliance health, Jack Bloom on Wednesday said Diepkloof mortuary was the worst affected.
Bloom in a statement said
“Families are suffering extreme distress by the delay in releasing the bodies of their loved ones for burial. Diepkloof mortuary is the worst affected”.
He further concluded.
“We cannot have a situation where bodies pile up in mortuaries, causing further anguish to bereaved families”.
