Breaking: Arsenal Get Tough Opponent in Europa League Semifinal
Arsenal will face Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semi-finals, while Red Bull Salzburg play Marseille.
The Gunners will play the first leg at the Emirates on Thursday, 26 April, with the second leg a week later on 3 May.
The final is slated for Lyon, France on Wednesday, 16 May, with the winner getting an automatic place in next season’s Champions League.
Arsenal defeated CSKA Moscow 6-3 on aggregate but narrowly escaped a defeat in yesterday’s second leg game. The Gunners conceded two goals in Moscow but two late goals from Ramsey and Welbeck salvaged the situation for the gunners. Winning the Europa league seems like the only option left for Arsenal’s champions league dreams as they currently sit 13 points away from 4th placed Tottenham.
Atletico, who is a two-time winner of the Europa League (2010 and 2012), is considered favourites on paper to carry the day, with its fully equipped defence machinery, Wenger will have to dig deep into his Arsenal to gun down this Atletico side come April.
