Breaking: Metuh Appears in Court on Stretcher

Former spokesman of the People’s Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, was at the Federal High Court, Abuja, venue of his ongoing corruption trial in an ambulance. He was stretched out of the ambulance amidst surprises on the faces of people.

At the last adjourned date, Mr. Metuh’s lawyer told the court handled by Justice Okon Abang that his client was at the Nnamdi Azikiwe specialist hospital for treatment on spinal cord complications. According to Metuh’s Lawyer, his client cannot appear in court.

The lawyers, led by Onyeachi Ikpeazu, asked for a prolonged adjournment after presenting the hospital’s medical report on Mr. Metuh’s health condition.

However, Mr. Abang refused the application for a long adjournment and warned that if Mr. Metuh was not in court on Monday, the court would go ahead and revoke the bail given to Mr.Metuh.

The judge, on seeing the state of Olisa Metuh says that “I’m forced to adjourn the matter on the prevailing circumstances.’’ The judge therefore adjourned the matter till March 15.

Family members and associates surrounded the PDP spokesperson, preventing journalists from taking his picture on the stretcher.
