One bride-to-be is experiencing some difficulty planning her wedding and attributes it to her future sister-in-law and bridesmaid, who has found out she’s pregnant aged 16.
Specifically, its the fact her sister-in-law will have a four month-old baby at the wedding, and the bride-to-be is not best pleased.
“There’s lots of mixed emotions about the pregnancy flying around the family at the moment understandably,” began the bride-to-be on Mumsnet . Bride-to-be Threatens To Ban Bridesmaid Because She is Pregnant

“She planned the baby without her boyfriend or anyone else knowing about it so she’s happy about it even if no one else is.”
There’s a sense the family are “coming to terms” with the surprise pregnancy, while trying to be as supportive as possible. Bride-to-be Threatens To Ban Bridesmaid Because She is Pregnant
The bride-to-be then gets to the real heart of the matter.
“Anyway, am I being unreasonable to think I now really can’t have her as a bridesmaid?”
Her reasons, she claims, are, “she’ll have a four month-old to care for and it’s really not fair to expect my father and mother-in-law to take on care duties while she does bridesmaid stuff.
“It’s their son’s wedding. She’s still living in a fantasy world where she’ll be able to care for the child as a single parent and still live the life of a normal teenager.”
Her niece or nephew will be the first baby in a generation
“She doesn’t know the reality of children yet.”
That’s not the only issue though.
“My partner’s extended family will see the baby at Christmas, then my wedding day will only be the second time anyone sees him/her. Bride-to-be Threatens To Ban Bridesmaid Because She is Pregnant
“It’s the first baby for a generation so it will take a lot of the attention away from my partner and I.
“I want our wedding day to be about us, not her.”
The bride-to-be does recognise envy may be playing a part, “but I can’t shake a feeling of anger about the whole thing.”
It’s not just the invitation to be a bridesmaid the woman wants to retract, but she also asks if she should ask her sister-in-law to not bring the baby to the “child free” wedding.
If it was sympathy the woman was after, then it seems she was appealing to the wrong crowd.
One woman said they “lost all sympathy,” when the bride claimed the baby would steal her limelight, adding that she should, “grow up.”
Someone else confessed they’d had a similar situation, but had easily come up with a solution to her bridesmaid having a baby.
