Buhari’s health challenge and the subsequent events

The issues following the health of President Mohammadu Buhari is gradually resulting in what can be referred to as not being ‘effective to perform’. Just yesterday Vice president Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki and Dogara of House of reps met to pay the president a farewell in his residence in Abuja. The visit which was planned to bid him farewell on another medical trip he embarked on yesterday has raised tension and several thoughts in the country and gradually resulting into an issue of national concern to the citizenry.
The president’s previous visit which lasted for about six weeks on his March 10th return has then caused three former head of states in Nigeria to meet the president’s ill health. In a closed-door meeting held in Babaginda’s hilltop residence in Minna May 1st, former Nigerian leaders, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdusalam Abubakar and the host himself, Ibrahim Babangida spoke in a closed-door meeting on the prevailing issue of the president’s health. The trios in the meeting were said to have considered all available options where the president is not effective to perform his constitutional functions.
A source privy to the meeting said that the eminent leaders were concerned about the president’s ill health and the loopholes in the leadership of the country. The source privy to this meeting had said the three former leaders are giving more attention to situations as it unveils and will speak up at an appropriate time.
Meanwhile, the former governor of Lagos state and National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also called on Nigerians to reinforce their support for the administration of President Buhari, warning those spreading rumour on the president’s health to quit doing so.
